Job Title: Commercial CarpenterJob DescriptionThis role involves working on a wide range of commercial carpentry projects throughout the Chicagoland suburbs and nearby regions. You will focus on commercial metal stud framing, drywall installation, acoustic ceilings, and related carpentry tasks in both new construction and remodel environments. Project assignments will be scheduled as close as possible to your home within the surrounding suburbs, including areas up to Wisconsin, west to DeKalb, and south to the I-80 corridor.Responsibilities
• Perform commercial metal stud framing for walls, partitions, and other structural elements according to project specifications and drawings. • Install drywall, including hanging and securing sheets to framing using appropriate fasteners and techniques. • Install acoustic ceiling systems, including suspension grids and ceiling tiles, ensuring proper alignment and finish. • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete carpentry tasks. • Interpret and follow construction plans, blueprints, and layouts to ensure accurate measurements and installations. • Assist with both new construction and remodel projects, adapting methods and sequencing to existing conditions as needed. • Maintain and use personal carpentry tools in good working condition on all assigned projects. • Collaborate with other trades and team members on site to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results. • Follow all safety procedures and site regulations to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others. • Complete finish carpentry tasks when required, such as trim, doors, and detailed interior work, to achieve a professional appearance. Essential Skills
• Proven experience in commercial carpentry on construction projects. • Hands-on experience with commercial metal stud framing. • Proficiency in drywall installation, including hanging and basic finishing. • Experience installing acoustic ceiling systems. • Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools and power tools commonly used in carpentry. • Ownership of personal carpentry tools suitable for commercial construction work. • Ability to read and follow construction plans, drawings, and measurements. • Capability to work on multiple commercial project types in varying locations across the Chicagoland suburbs and nearby areas. • Finish carpentry experience, including trim, doors, and detailed interior work. • Residential carpentry experience that complements commercial skills. • Broad, well-rounded carpentry across different project types and environments. • Flexibility to work on both new construction and remodel projects. • Strong teamwork and communication skills for coordination with other trades and site personnel. Work schedules follow standard construction hours, with potential variation based on project needs. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
