Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Text 8 4 7 5 8 0 2 8 1 4 if interested Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Assembler is responsible for building low and medium voltage electrical switchgear cabinets from start to finish. You will interpret blueprints and work orders, gather the correct materials and hardware, and use hand and power tools to assemble modular steel cabinets and copper bus assemblies. You will also perform basic inspections to ensure that all products meet quality and safety standards.Responsibilities

• Interpret assembly, elevation, and wiring drawings, as well as electrical schematics, to build electrical switchgear cabinets accurately. • Construct modular steel cabinets and copper bus assemblies according to blueprints and work instructions. • Gather appropriate materials, components, and hardware based on blueprints and work orders before starting assembly. • Use manual hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers to perform mechanical assembly tasks. • Operate power tools including drills, impact tools, pneumatic torque wrenches, power drills, saws, and grinders safely and effectively. • Measure and lay out components using a tape measure with accuracy, including working with fractions and decimals. • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as framing, basic carpentry-related work, and light mechanical work similar to automotive or machine building. • Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality assembly. • Perform basic inspections of completed assemblies to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. • Use shop equipment and tools safely while maintaining a clean and organized work area. • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to clarify requirements and resolve issues. • Manage time and tasks efficiently to meet production schedules and productivity goals. • Identify opportunities for improvement in assembly processes and participate in continuous improvement efforts. • Demonstrate integrity, ethics, and a strong focus on safety and quality throughout all work activities. Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Assembler, Machine Builder, Automotive Mechanic, or similar role in a job shop environment rather than a high-speed assembly line. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, assembly drawings, elevation drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics. • Ability to construct modular steel cabinets and copper bus assemblies from technical documentation. • Strong mechanical assembly skills using both hand and power tools. • Hands-on experience with manual hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and other common shop tools. • Hands-on experience with power tools including drills, impact tools, pneumatic torque wrenches, power drills, saws, and grinders. • Ability to use a tape measure accurately and perform measurements involving fractions and decimals. • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with fractions and decimals. • Knowledge of electrical symbols and basic electrical concepts used in schematics and wiring diagrams. • Ability to use shop equipment safely and effectively in a fabrication and assembly environment. • Ability to read, write, and converse fluently in English with a level of competency sufficient to understand work instructions, safety procedures, and technical documentation. • Demonstrated commitment to producing quality work and following established standards. • Strong time management and productivity skills, including the ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines. • Effective communication skills to work with colleagues and support a collaborative environment. • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills to make appropriate decisions during assembly and troubleshooting. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Technical School education preferred but not required. • Experience in mechanical assembly within fabrication, welding, wiring, or related manufacturing environments. • Background in heavy assembly, construction, framing, carpentry, or similar hands-on trades. • Experience as a machine builder or in automotive maintenance tasks such as oil changes and basic mechanical repairs. • Familiarity with continuous improvement and innovation, including finding new and better ways of performing tasks. • Demonstrated integrity and ethics, aligned with strong values and a focus on doing the right thing. • Customer-focused mindset with an understanding of how product quality and reliability impact end users. • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team-oriented, inclusive workplace. • Comfort working with structured work orders and documented processes in a manufacturing setting. The site handles fabrication, welding, wiring, and assembly in-house, allowing you to see products through the full build process. You will work with a variety of shop equipment, hand tools, and power tools in a structured production setting that emphasizes safety, organization, and quality. The environment supports teamwork and collaboration while maintaining a professional, production-focused atmosphere. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of South Elgin, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
