Job Title: Mechanical Technician Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Technician will support aerospace operations by fabricating, assembling, and maintaining Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and facility hardware. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability and safety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems used in test stands and ground support environments. The technician will work closely with engineers and technical staff to build, install, integrate, and maintain equipment that supports mission-critical aerospace activities.Responsibilities
• Fabricate, assemble, and maintain Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and facility hardware used in aerospace operations. • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ground support equipment to ensure reliable performance and operational readiness. • Build, install, integrate, and maintain test stands and ground support equipment for aerospace testing and operations. • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems. • Assist engineers and other technical personnel with system testing, troubleshooting, modifications, and qualification activities. • Identify equipment failures and determine appropriate repair, replacement, or troubleshooting procedures. • Use precision tools and diagnostic equipment to verify that equipment meets performance, quality, and safety specifications. • Perform fabrication and assembly of aerospace tubing, including tube bending, flaring, and Swagelok fitting assembly when required. • Work with high-pressure gas and fluid systems, including pressure vessels, regulators, valves, manifolds, hoses, fittings, and instrumentation. • Use hand tools, power tools, and calibrated tooling such as torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, miter saws, and bandsaws. • Follow cleanroom and controlled work environment standards when working in designated areas. • Support test facilities and rigs by assisting with their fabrication, operation, and ongoing maintenance. • Document work performed and communicate equipment status, issues, and recommendations to the engineering and operations teams. Essential Skills
• 5+ years of experience in assembly, fabrication, and maintenance of mechanical equipment. • Mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in complex systems. • Experience in general aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication. • Mechanical and fluids Ground Support Equipment (GSE) operation experience. • Experience with piping and tubing routing and installation. • Test facilities and rig fabrication, operation, and maintenance experience. • Familiarity with pressure systems and high-pressure gas and fluid systems. • Familiarization with hardware assembly for aerospace or similar technical environments. • Proficiency in the use of torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools. • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. • Light instrumentation and electrical experience supporting electromechanical systems. • Experience with pneumatics and electromechanical assembly. • Ability to assist with system testing, troubleshooting, and qualification activities in collaboration with engineers. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in aerospace cleanroom environments or controlled workspaces is desired. • Experience with fabrication and assembly of aerospace tubing, including tube bending, flaring, and Swagelok fitting assembly, is preferred. • Familiarization with cleanroom standards and procedures. • Experience in instrumentation for test facilities or aerospace applications. • Comfort working with regulators, valves, manifolds, hoses, fittings, and related hardware. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in handling high-pressure systems. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications. • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers and technical teams. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintenance activities in a fast-paced environment. Work will at times take place in a cleanroom or controlled work environment, following strict cleanliness and contamination-control standards. Typical hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. to 4:00/5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with additional weekend work as needed to support operations and testing schedules. The position involves regular hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as high-pressure gas and fluid systems, using calibrated tools and diagnostic equipment in a structured, safety-focused setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.50 - $41.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
