Job Title: PhlebotomistJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team in conducting blood draws and maintaining high standards of specimen collection and processing. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients, ensuring a clear and courteous experience. Responsibilities • Conduct blood draws and label specimens accurately. • Centrifuge specimens and maintain detailed records. • Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures. • Clearly explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients. • Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and label them as required. • Ensure specimens are packaged and stored correctly for transport, maintaining the integrity of the specimen. • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy queries. Essential Skills • Phlebotomy and venipuncture experience with 0-2+ years performing venipunctures. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to draw blood from pediatric to geriatric patients. • High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Demonstrated techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. • Knowledge of handling hard stick patients is preferred. Work EnvironmentThe role is set in a fast-paced lab environment where the Phlebotomist will be drawing blood from patients of all ages, ranging from pediatric to geriatric. The average number of draws per patient is approximately 25. The lab maintains a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere, adhering to high standards of safety and accuracy. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Anchorage, AK. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
