The Just Energy Transition Project Management Office (JET PMU)
The JET PMU operates as a high-impact delivery unit, driving the Just Energy Transition (JET) through strategic coordination, agile execution, and results-driven implementation. Focused on accelerating project pipelines, mobilising resources, problem solving and fostering collaboration, the PMU bridges policy and action.
About the ACT Programme
The Accelerating Coal Transition (ACT) Programme is a flagship of the JET Investment Plan (2023–2027) and of South Africa's international partnerships supporting the Just Energy Transition. It is a multi-phase, multi-programme initiative valued at USD 2.9 billion, designed to responsibly manage the retirement of five coal-fired power stations in Mpumalanga — Camden, Grootvlei, Hendrina, Arnot, and Kriel — by 2030, in line with government's Integrated Resource Plan 2025.
The programme invests in renewable energy repowering projects at each site, the repurposing of facilities, and the development of economic opportunities and energy services in the at-risk communities of the municipalities where the power stations are located.
The JET PMU in the Presidency is responsible for managing the ACT Desk.
About the role
As part of the MOU signed between the African Climate Foundation (ACF) and the Just Energy Transition Projects Management Unit (JET PMU); the ACF agreed to provide resources to the JET PMU to enable the JET PMU to fulfil its mandate pursuant to the JET PMU’s terms of reference. This includes the secondment of technical experts across all relevant disciplines to support the agenda of the JET PMU.
A USD 2.9 billion programme delivered through multiple external implementing agencies generates a lot of data — of varying quality, in varying formats, on varying timelines. The JET PMU needs a rigorous reporting analyst who can turn that data into performance reports that funders and governance committees can rely on, produced accurately and on time, every cycle.
This is a role with genuine analytical depth and operational discipline — agreeing data sources and quality standards with an implementing agency in the morning, building a reporting system that will hold up over years of programme delivery at midday, and quality-checking a report bound for a governance committee before the day is out. It suits someone who is as comfortable interrogating a spreadsheet as explaining what it means to a non-technical audience.
This role will be seconded to the JET PMU and operates within a mandate delegated by the Manager: ACT Governance and works closely with the ACT Programme Manager and the Programme Manager: MJET to keep reporting aligned to their delivery execution plans.
Key Deliverables:
Reporting Planning & Alignment
• Engage relevant stakeholders on data sources, and the required content, quality, and frequency of ACT reporting at programme level.
• Align reporting content and cycles to the ACT Programme Manager's delivery execution plan and the Programme Manager: MJET's delivery execution plan, tracking performance against plans.
• Align reporting content and production cycles to the ACT governance committees' mandates and calendars.
Data & Systems Management
• Establish data collation, analysis, and report compilation systems with each implementing agency in the ACT sub-programmes.
• Establish the appropriate use of digital tools to support efficient and accurate collation of data and reports.
• Establish and maintain the ACT reporting repository.
Quality Assurance & Report Delivery
• Ensure quality control over ACT reporting.
• Ensure that ACT reports are prepared accurately and timeously for ACT governance committees.
• Provide timely and accurate data to the JET PMU's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team and to the JET PMU's Communications team.
• Contribute accurate and timely data, reports, and analysis to produce annual ACT Progress Reports for publication on the JET website.

You can interpret and explain data in a manner that readers of differing backgrounds can understand and use reliably.
Rigorous quality control
Attention to detail, accuracy, and scheduling, across reporting cycles with hard funder and governance deadlines.
Confident multi-stakeholder engagement
The ability to work with multiple stakeholders across several external organisations in a manner that builds trust and collaboration.
A practical problem-solver
The ability to assess bottlenecks to critical-path delivery and find solutions.
Digital systems capability
Skills in establishing digital systems that support efficient data collation, analytics, reporting, and record-keeping.
Experience
5 to 8 years of professional experience in data collation, analytics, and reporting.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Data Analytics or a related field.
