An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gynaecology ward at St Helens & Whiston Hospitals for a dynamic TCU/Discharge Co Ordinator to join the team of dedicated nursing staff in the Gynaecology Department.
Our Gynaecology services provided include;
Rapid Access - Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit Rapid Access Clinics for post-menopausal bleeding / hysteroscopy Colposcopy Cancer Surgery as part of the Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Network Urology Minor Procedures Major & Day Case Surgery Vulval Clinics
We are looking for a highly motivated professional to join our Gynaecology Team. The post holder must be enthusiastic with a passion for excellence within the delivery of patient care, and be able to work effectively as a member of the team. You must possess a caring, compassionate and positive manner, and have excellent communication skills. A flexible approach to the working environment is essential for this post.
An Enhanced DBS with the checking of Children's and Adults Barred Lists is required for this post.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be closely assisted and supported by the Key Lead Professionals within the Multi-Disciplinary Team [MDT] and led by the MDT discussions, they will ensure the patient has an excellent hospital experience throughout their journey until discharge.
They will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, carers, members of the MDT and external agencies.
They will receive and provide complex and sensitive information, and due to the patient groups they are dealing with, multi stranded discussions due to patient co-morbidities. There may be barriers to communication in these discussions.
They will liaise with wards and ensure the discharge list is up to date and ready for the following morning.
They will assist in the promotion of effective communication with all ward staff and other departments in relation to their role.
The post holder will have knowledge of the health and well-being of the patients in these settings and an awareness of the service. They will be educated to NVQ Level 3 plus training and experience in a Healthcare setting, Diploma level in a Healthcare setting or have the equivalent of this knowledge gained through training and experience.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
