Job summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a specialty doctor in Gynae Oncology at the Hampstead site of the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This post is for a 1-year fixed term.The post will include working closely with the Gynae cancer team supporting the clinics, theatre sessions, inpatient reviews, triaging new referrals, preparing and participating in the gynae oncology MDT and working with operational managers in managing the cancer PTL.
There will also be a commitment to deal with emergency gynaecology and training more junior trainees. The candidate will be required to have had some ultrasound scanning experience, the team can support further training for specific gynaecology ultrasound training for post menopausal bleeding clinics. There will be weekend working.
There is currently no obstetrics or on-call component, but this is subject to change as the requirements in the department changes.Candidates are advised contact Mr Shakir for further details. As this is a new post the job plan will be designed by Mr Shakir and Miss Heather Evans and will depend on the individual's skill set and service requirements.

Education & professional qualifications Essential
Eligibility to work at the level of a senior trainee, post-CCT fellow, or equivalent Current full GMC Registration MRCOG or equivalent
Experience Essential
Training in General Gynaecological surgery, including Diagnostic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy Previous scanning experience - preferable with gynaecology service Basic knowledge of gnyaecology cancer pathway, including an understanding of the NICE guidelines, diagnostic pathways, and multidisciplinary approaches to care.
Desirable
Participation in clinical research or audit projects, ideally related to gynaecology, minimally invasive surgery, or endometriosis care Interest or experience in teaching or mentoring junior trainees or medical students.
Skills and aptitudes Essential
Basic competency in diagnostic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, with a willingness to advance to operative procedures under supervision Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills, appropriate to level of training Awareness of patient-centered approaches in the management of complex conditions such as suspected gynaecological cancers, including the importance of addressing physical, psychological, and quality-of-life aspects.
