Band 2 £25,272 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week including weekends and bank holiday on a rota basis

All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Worker, to join the Stores and Distribution Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

Are you a motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of a team? If so, now is your chance to contribute your skills and knowledge to Milton Keynes University hospital.

This post will involve picking, packing and receipting of orders, stock rotation and ward supply including extended services. Working as part of a team the role will involve lifting and moving of heavy items with appropriate training. Weekend & Bank Holiday working as part of a roster.

o To perform, under supervision, all types of pharmaceutical work appropriate to the level of knowledge and experience, to participate in the provision of pharmaceutical services to our patients and staff.

o To provide accurate, efficient, and high-quality supply service to the trust and external customers ensuring the continued quality of products, maintaining the standards required for wholesale supply, as required by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority.

Job description Job responsibilities

Main duties and responsibilities

Stock shelves in the Inpatient Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, and any other required location ensuring that stock is kept clean, tidy, in the correct place and used in order FEFO (first expiry first out).

Carry out regular stock checks of medicines stored within these areas reporting any discrepancies to the Procurement Pharmacy Technician.

Professional Responsibilities

To cooperate with managers to ensure the Pharmacy department is compliant with relevant statutory and professional standards on Health & Safety, COSHH, Clinical Governance, and Medicines Management.

To participate in the Pharmacy 7 day working rota including shift working, working at weekends and bank holidays on rotation with the other Pharmacy Support staff and in cooperation with other pharmacy staff.

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge Essential

GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C or above for English & Maths.

Desirable

NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services. Valid driving licence. Good Distribution Practise qualification.

Experience Essential

Team working.

Desirable

Experience of pharmacy or other customer focused service. Experience of working with formal procedures. JAC Pharmacy Computer System. Previous experience of picking and packing orders for dispatch.

Skills Essential

Excellent attention to detail Good numerical skills Good communication & IT skills (e.g. Excel, Microsoft NAV etc.), Ability to complete the Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills Ability to work flexibly and prioritise. Methodical and efficient. Analytical and problem-solving abilities, Able to work safely and effectively under pressure and/or minimal supervision. Safety/security awareness

Customer service skills Understanding of stock control An understanding of applicable regulations, standards and best practices.
