Job summary We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Assistants to join our teams across Dunes Ward and Pine Ward at Hartley Hospital. As a Nursing Assistant, you will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, person-centred care to patients. You will support patients with their daily activities, promote independence, and help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
Your role will include:
Supporting patients with personal care and wellbeing needs. Building positive and professional relationships with patients, carers, and colleagues. Observing and reporting changes in patients' physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Supporting therapeutic activities and engagement. Maintaining accurate records in line with Trust policies. Contributing to a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused ward environment. NVQ in Health and Social Care and/or experience of working in a care environment is essential.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of a qualified practitioner you will implement a range of individual and group activities. You will be required to use your initiative when working independently on the wards and are expected to report any clinical progress or change to a qualified practitioner.
You will work to assist with the continuity of care for service users on their journey through the acute service.
You will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users' choice and works along side them and their carers to ensure they are at the centre of care planning.
You will carry out assigned tasks involving direct/indirect service user care and support service users under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.

Principal Responsibilities:
To carry out assigned duties, involving direct care and observation of service users under the guidance and indirect supervision of qualified staff. To report to the qualified staff any observations made whilst providing care to service users activities and leisure, providing details of mental state and risk factors. To work with service users on an individual and group basis as outlined in the care plan and as directed by the appropriate named lead professional.
