We have an exciting opportunity for a Directorate Head of Nursing & Quality to join the Health in Justice service at Practice Plus Group.

You will work across the Midlands directorate, which covers our prisons across the East and West Midlands.

This role is home based, with travel to sites across the directorate as required.

This is a senior directorate leadership role responsible for providing professional, strategic, and operational leadership across nursing and allied health professional (AHP) services. You will ensure high-quality, safe, patient-centred care and lead on quality improvement, professional standards, workforce development, and governance.

Salary

This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week.

You will receive an annual salary of £80,000 to £90,000 per annum.

Main duties of the job

As the Directorate Head of Nursing & Quality your responsibilities will vary. You will:

Act as the senior nursing leader across the directorate. Provide professional oversight of all nursing and allied health professionals. Promote professional standards, clinical excellence, and patient-centred care. Support and develop clinical leadership capability across teams. Lead the quality function across the directorate. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements Lead quality improvement programmes, audits, benchmarking, and learning from incidents. Support investigations into complaints, serious incidents, legal cases, and safeguarding concerns. Develop and support the nursing and AHP workforce strategy. Contribute to business planning and service development. Identify opportunities for service improvement and growth. Influence policy development and implementation across Health in Justice services. Represent Practice Plus Group at regional and national forums and conferences. Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Current Registered Nurse qualification (RGN or RMN). Evidence of leadership and management training. Safeguarding training to Level 4 for vulnerable adults/children. Experience leading quality improvement initiatives. Experience of clinical audit, benchmarking, and standards of care programmes. Experience managing complaints, incidents, investigations, and organisational learning. Experience handling safeguarding concerns. Experience leading clinical change and service development. Experience improving patient experience and outcomes. Experience implementing evidence-based practice and nursing research. Experience dealing with professional conduct and performance issues.
