Job summary
The job role assists with providing a welcoming and efficient service to children and their families with special needs and disabilities at Walsall Child Development Centre. This will include signposting services and the public, processing service user details using electronic systems, and consulting with clinicians and colleagues. The role will include supporting of general administration functions to ensure the smooth running of the multi-agency child development service.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include reception duty, management of email correspondence, support with general administrative functions including data collection and reporting and workshop and appointment booking. The successful applicant should be good at listening, demonstrate empathy combined with good organisation skills and sound knowledge of Microsoft systems.

Job description Job responsibilities
Liaise with Walsall Child Development Service staff members, service users, childrens services and Trust support staff in person, via telephone and email.
Demonstrate a caring and professional approach towards service users and the public when performing reception or clerical duties.
Escalate service user queries to the relevant clinical staff as appropriate.
Show a caring and professional approach towards service users and carers via telephone or face to face. This may require acting with resilience to deal with sometimes distressed service users in an empathic manner.
Clerical duties: maintaining accurate electronic filing systems, diary management, scanning clinical notes if required. Maintain patient information. Inputting patient data accurately and timely. Supporting discharge and archiving processes
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE, grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
Knowledge and experience Desirable
Previous NHS experience within a health setting would be advantageous. Clerical and administration experience
Key Competencies Essential
Good verbal and written communication and listening skills IT literate - Knowledge of Microsoft packages Knowledge of children's NHS services Excellent telephone/reception manner
