About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Therapy Assistant to join the dynamic Community Neurotherapy Team based at Ellesmere Port Hospital. As a Therapy Assistant you will assist in the delivery of high quality occupational therapy and physiotherapy plans to patients with a variety of Neurological rehabilitation needs both within the community and in an out-patient clinic. These sessions may be jointly with registered members of the team, within a group setting and/or on a 1:1 individual basis.

You will work alongside and liaise with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff as well as the wider multidisciplinary team, family members and other outside agencies as directed by registered therapists.

Whilst experience within a healthcare setting as a therapy assistant would be an advantage, it is not essential as training will be provided and you will be supported in your development by both the team and by our Practice Development Therapist.

This post is part time 22.5 hours per week.

The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.

Main duties of the job

To work under the direction of a registered therapist carrying out therapeutic intervention on a daily basis. To implement patient treatment plans, written by the registered therapists To observe patients, either individually or in groups and report all relevant observations to registered therapists. To accurately record interventions electronically using an in house computer based system in a timely manner. To take responsibility for attending and participating in clinical supervision To attend in service training and external training to ensure skills and knowledge are current. To undertake mandatory training and attend staff meetings To maintain confidentiality in line with Trust Policy.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Relevant NVQ III or relevant clinical experience.

Desirable

Recognised equipment fitting course

Knowledge and expertise Essential

Understanding of rehabilitation enabling techniques Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to rehabilitation Knowledge of health care conditions Knowledge of the human body and physiotherapy interventions e.g., Gait training and exercise.

Desirable

Understanding of application of electrotherapy.

Experience Essential

Proven ability to work as member of multidisciplinary team Relevant experience in a health care setting
