About this role
Job summary We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to become a key member of our multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties including neurodevelopmental conditions.The post holder works collaboratively with families, schools, social care, health professionals and partner agencies to support effective treatment planning, risk management and positive outcomes for young people. A central aspect of the role is providing clinical supervision, training and support to qualified and trainee staff, helping to strengthen psychologically informed practice across services. The post holder contributes to the development and governance of psychological services, participates in service evaluation, audit and research activities, and supports the continuous improvement of CAMHS through evidence-based practice and service development initiatives. The role requires autonomous professional practice within professional and organisational guidelines while maintaining high standards of clinical care, safeguarding and record keeping.

As a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS team, this post will contribute to the provision of psychological assessment and intervention to the CAMH Service working with children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and / or neurodevelopmental conditions including autistic spectrum disorders (ASD)
To develop and implement psychological therapeutic plans of care and to liaise and work with other agencies regarding the implementation of care and the management of risk.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the CAMH service.
To provide supervision to qualified and pre-qualified staff. To offer expert consultation to partner agencies and other professionals within the multi-disciplinary team.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
oPost-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology oProfessionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) oEligibility for BPS Chartered Status.
Desirable
oPost-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice. oSpecialist training in psychological therapies with children, young people and families. oFormal training in supervision of other psychologists.
Experience Essential
oPrevious experience of working as a trainee or qualified clinical psychologist with children, young people and their families. oExperience of working with children and young people presenting with the full range of clinical severity across a wide range of care settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse. Experience of working with families and carers. Experience of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working. Experience of child safeguarding. Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan under supervision.

oExperience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts. oExperience of assessment or intervention with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and / or learning disabilities oADOS trained
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of child mental health issues Knowledge of child safeguarding Knowledge of a range of services typically involved with children with complex needs Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
