Line of Service Advisory Industry/Sector Not Applicable Specialism Fraud, Investigations & Regulatory Enforcement (FIRE) Management Level Director Job Description & Summary The Director, Fraud & Scams Advisory, is responsible for leading and growing a market-leading fraud and scams advisory practice. The role provides strategic advice to Boards, executives and regulators on fraud risk management, scams prevention, financial crime, customer protection, regulatory compliance and operational resilience.
The Director leads complex advisory and transformation engagements, develops market opportunities, builds high-performing teams and contributes to the firm's growth strategy. As a recognised subject matter expert, the Director provides thought leadership on emerging fraud and scam risks, regulatory reform and industry-leading prevention capabilities across banking, financial services, payments and other sectors.
The role is accountable for helping clients navigate increasing regulatory expectations while designing sustainable, commercially effective solutions that strengthen fraud and scam prevention outcomes.

What you’ll do:
• Act as the lead advisor to Boards, executive teams, and senior stakeholders on fraud and scams risk management, providing strategic guidance and expert insights. • Lead large-scale transformation, remediation, and regulatory response programs focused on fraud, scams, and financial crime risk management. • Develop, design, and deliver market-leading fraud and scams advisory services across risk management, prevention, detection, response, recovery, governance, investigations, and analytics. • Support clients in responding to emerging fraud threats, scam typologies, and evolving regulatory developments, and provide expert advice on organizational readiness and compliance. • Provide SME input into independent reviews and assurance engagements relating to fraud, scams, and financial crime risk management programs. • Develop and present Board papers, executive briefings, strategic recommendations, and risk insights to influence decision-making at the highest levels. • Lead client engagements addressing regulatory reforms such as Scams Prevention Framework (SPF), AML/CTF obligations, CPS 230 operational resilience, consumer protection requirements, and payments/fraud regulation. • Interpret regulatory requirements and assist clients in developing practical implementation strategies, remediation plans, and sustainable operating models. • Lead the development and transition of fraud and scam managed service offerings, driving operational efficiency through technology-enabled solutions, automation, advanced analytics, and AI capabilities. • Build and maintain strategic client relationships, drive business development activities, lead proposals, RFP responses, and commercial negotiations to grow the Fraud & Scams Advisory practice. • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, inclusive team of fraud and scams specialists, fostering collaboration across related functions such as Financial Crime, Risk, Cyber, Technology, and Operations. • Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the practice and wider organization.
What we’re looking for:
Core skills
• 10-15+ years’ experience in customer fraud and scams risk management gained through experience in consulting, banking, or regulatory or related sectors, with significant leadership exposure. • A deep understanding of customer fraud and scams risk management frameworks, regulations and controls will be essential for this role. • Demonstrated success leading large-scale fraud, scam or financial crime transformation and regulatory response programs. • Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to lead complex client engagements and drive business growth. • Expertise advising executive and Board-level stakeholders, including preparing and presenting strategic risk insights and Board papers. • Deep knowledge of fraud prevention, scam risk management, financial crime frameworks, governance structures, and regulatory compliance. • Proven people leadership skills, including team development, resource planning, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Desirable skills
