Purpose of Position: Des Moines Christian School Substitute Teachers are student-focused professionals who fulfill the mission of DMC by stepping into the role of the classroom teacher. Position: ● Part-time Reports To: Qualifications: Division Head ● Iowa Teaching License or Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred ● Candidates who have a sub authorization in the state of Iowa will also be considered. ● Professing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committed to growing in relationship with Him. ● In agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Statement of Faith. ● In agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Biblical Convictions for Christian Education. ● Regularly attends and is actively involved in a church that affirms historic Christian orthodoxy (doctrine, faith, teaching, practice), consistent with the DMC Statement of Faith, through that church’s public creed, confession, core beliefs, or statement of faith. Responsibilities: ● Ensures the DMC mission drives all curricular and extracurricular activities. ● Exhibits a love of teaching and a passion to see each student succeed. ● Develops trusting, productive relationships with students to create a safe, positive, and productive learning environment. ● Follows lesson plans left by the classroom teacher and develops and adapts lesson plans as needed. ● Grades work and updates gradebook accordingly. ● Follows classroom procedures. ● Uses a variety of instructional strategies and assessment practices to deepen the learning for each student. ● Partners with parents through effective, consistent communication. ● All other duties as assigned.
We are seeking a Long-Term Substitute High School Math Teacher for an immediate assignment teaching sections of Algebra I and Statistics. Ideal candidates can teach both courses, but we are open to considering candidates who can teach either course.
