Job Description - BASKETBALL (B & G), WRESTLING, ALPINE SKIING, CHEERLEADING, INDOOR TRACK Position: Athletic Coach Job Goal To provide student-athletes with meaningful opportunities to develop their athletic, intellectual, emotional, and personal potential. The Athletic Coach promotes high standards of achievement while fostering positive attitudes, teamwork, fair play, leadership, and good sportsmanship. The coach creates a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment in which all student-athletes can develop their skills and reach their full potential. Supervision Reports to the Principal through the Athletic Director. Qualifications
• Knowledge, experience, and/or demonstrated expertise in the assigned sport.
• Previous coaching experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with student-athletes, families, coaches, and school personnel.
• Current CORI and fingerprint/background clearance as required.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required in addition to other MIAA coach certification requirements.
Performance Responsibilities The Athletic Coach shall:
• Provide instruction, training, and supervision appropriate to the assigned sport and the needs of student-athletes.
• Communicate all rules, expectations, policies, and sport-specific regulations to participating student-athletes.
• Maintain a consistent presence at all scheduled practices, competitions, and team travel, providing appropriate guidance, supervision, and support.
• Represent the school at PVIAC/MIAA sport meetings as required.
• Attend athletic department meetings and presentations.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of all student-athletes and take appropriate measures to ensure a safe athletic environment.
• Properly maintain, secure, and safeguard assigned athletic equipment, facilities, and other resources.
• Comply with all school district policies, Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) regulations, and applicable rules governing the athletic program.
• Promote and model good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, accountability, and appropriate behavior at all times.
• Work cooperatively with the Athletic Director, school administration, coaching staff, and other school personnel to support the goals of the athletic program.
• Fulfill all other duties and responsibilities associated with the effective operation of the assigned athletic program.
