About this role
Union County Public Schools is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform skilled maintenance, ongoing repair and construction of district buildings and equipment in one or more craft(s) or trade(s); assist other Maintenance Workers and Technicians as necessary; work independently in trades such as carpentry, locksmith, masonry, roofing and audiovisual repair. In addition to having a high school diploma/GED, the preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in one or more trades areas and demonstrate/apply knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving at least one of the following: electrical, HVAC, locksmith, plumbing, carpentry, painting, or welding. The preferred candidate should be able to demonstrate a varied skill set in the proper maintenance and repair of district facilities and equipment, be able to prioritize, schedule, assign and review work; the applicant should additionally be able to interpret, explain, and apply codes, rules, and regulations. Effectively and safely operating a variety of assigned tools and equipment is an important skillset for applicants to demonstrate at all times. Finally, the candidate must be able to understand/follow oral & written directions, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, work independently with little direction, and meet schedules/timelines.
