This job posting is for Short Term 2026-2027 school year RRPS Student Services Department 190-day contract Job Title: Resource Nurse Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing or related field preferred;

• New Mexico Public Education Department License as a Level II School Nurse, or ability to obtain proper licensure within 90 days of hire;

• New Mexico Board of Nursing Registered Nurse License, or any successor licensing board for nurses or license from another state based on current compact state license according to New Mexico Nursing Board rule; and

• Current AHA BLS CPR Certification.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Collaborates in the development and implementation of the District Health Services Program;

• Participates with District Nurses and school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program based on student needs;

• Advises and educates School Nurses, Health Assistants, District Staff, Teachers, students and parents on health matters and provides training activities when necessary;

• Identifies District health problems including social, emotional, and economic factors that interfere with learning through screening procedures, assessment and evaluation of district and school health processes;

• Monitors quality assurance for health care and/or health education related programs as assessed for the district;

• Trains School Nurses on processes for routine care of ill and injured students;

• Trains and guides School Nurses to participate as health professional in the evaluation process for students referred for special education services;

• Assists in the oversight, training and delegation to Health Assistants;

• Provides ongoing leadership, oversight, and support to District Nurses;

• Develops and implements Health Management Plans, provides training on the development of Health Management Plans to School Nurses;

• Initiates medical and behavioral health referrals in collaboration with School Nurses and staff to parents, school personnel and community providers;

• Arranges substitute for Nurse absences from substitute nurse pool, or by arranging coverage with another District Nurse, or providing coverage personally;

• Coordinates CPR/AED Program for the District;

• Trains Nurses and Health Assistants on data collection procedures; compiles reports for the state and Public Education Department as required;

• Assists with school-wide, special education, and Section 504 hearing and vision screening programs, including referrals when indicated;

• Acts as a liaison between the schools, families, and community providers regarding health information and referrals;

• Assists with medication administration training and oversight; provides medication administration and specialized healthcare needs to students;

• Assists with implementation of policies and procedures regarding control of communicable diseases in accordance with regulations of the State of New Mexico Department of Health;

• Authorizes exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious, contagious, and nuisance diseases;

• Assists School Nurse with student health and immunization records including sending immunization notices; contacting providers as necessary for records or order clarification;

• Assists in providing emergency care and first aid for students and staff; arranges transportation for emergency medical care when needed;

• Participates in in-service training programs, workshops, and continuing education to maintain professional status;

• Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and training for Nurses and Health Assistants;

• Participates as a health professional on other relevant teams and at appropriate conferences and meetings;

• Maintains current BLS CPR Certification;

• Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, equipment, and supplies;

• Maintains communication and professional rapport with students, parents, and staff;

• Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations;

• Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information;

• Performs related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services; and Director of Nursing

• Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.

Work Hours Work hours are established in employment contract. Additional work hours may be required as scheduled by Executive Director of Student Services. Application Procedure: The following documents must be attached to complete this application:
