INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL - Block Fest (District Wide) Once a month/5 hours per day (4:30 pm – 9:30 pm) on the following dates: Tues, Oct. 20, 2026 at Summitview Tues, Nov. 3, 2026 at Cottonwood Tues, Feb. 2, 2027 at Apple Valley Tues, March 16, 2027 at West Valley Innovation Center Tues, April 20, 2027 at Mountainview Tues, May 4, 2027 at Wide Hollow Schedule: 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Hook-up trailer to district suburban at Transportation Center and drive to school site 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Assist with set-up of BLOCK Fest including unloading the trailer and setting-up BLOCK Fest stations in the school gym 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Assist with student supervision of BLOCK Fest stations in the school gym 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Assist with loading blocks into trailer 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm, Drive district suburban to Transportation Center, unhook trailer, park suburban at Transportation Center parking lot Purpose Statement: The job of instructional paraprofessional is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the supervision and instruction of students, under the supervision of a certificated teacher, working with individual and/or small groups of students in a classroom, monitoring students in a variety of different settings e.g. classroom, playground, cafeteria, library, bus loading, field trips, etc. and providing clerical support to teacher. Directly Responsible to: Classroom teacher and building principal. Minimum Qualifications: The ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act requires that all Washington State Paraprofessionals MUST have a High School Diploma or GED and at least ONE of the following requirements:
• 2 year post-secondary degree or more
• 72 quarter credits at a post-secondary school

• Administers tests as requested for the purpose of assisting the teacher in scoring tests and providing feedback to students.
• Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. listen to students reading, phonics, spelling, daily math, language, numbers, letters, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and reaching their academic goals and potential.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g. reading, writing, math, etc.) for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
• Instructs students (e.g. reading, math, spelling, language, computer keyboard, library research, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lessons under the direction of a certified teacher.
• Maintains classroom equipment, work area, students files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials, cleaning work area, taking attendance, checking homework, grading papers, audio visual equipments, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.
• Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, cafeteria, library, halls, to/from bus, field trips, in-house detention, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. copying, laminating, correcting papers, phone calls, translating, scheduling activities, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or in providing necessary records/materials.
• Promotes good habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student's outcome and encouraging student development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; age appropriate activities; and a second language may be required for some positions. ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data, and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; and working as part of a team. Bilingual Preferred Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting (able to lift 50 pounds and assisting in lifting over 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. The job related is performed under a generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere. Experience Job related experience is desired. Education High School diploma or equivalent.
