09/28/2026 Knappa School District No. 4 is seeking to fill the position of Knappa Bus Mechanic/Maintenance Assistant Title: Knappa School Bus Mechanic/Maintenance Assistant (1.0 FTE 260-day Position) Qualifications:
• Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Oregon Class “B” license, with passenger endorsement and air brake qualified, in addition to an Oregon Department of Education School Bus Certificate
• Able to pass physical examination and submit to drug and alcohol screening
• Manipulate both hand and power tools
• Minimum of two years' experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty equipment mechanic
• Hold first-aid card or be willing to obtain one
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to work harmoniously with other employees
• Salary Range is $24.68-$33.44 per hour plus
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor (Superintendent) Job Goal: Perform required maintenance on district vehicles Responsibilities:
• Maintain bus fleet and district vehicles as required
• Assists the Transportation Supervisor in the daily operation of the transportation department
• Drive buses and other vehicles
• Maintain maintenance records and establish vehicle maintenance schedule
• Maintains the bus garage including organization, disposal of waste fluids (oil, anti-freeze ), and ordering and inventory of supplies for vehicles and buses (i.e., fuel, parts, oil, paper towels, cleaners, etc.).
• Ensures that assigned buses are clean, fuel and oil are replenished and that buses are in good repair, proper working order and ready for routes and all field and athletic trips.
