Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. This is a great opportunity to gain real life experience of all aspects of a Day Service for People with an Intellectual Disability. Day Service Support and Administration Assistant provides both direct support to service users within the adult day service and administrative support to assist the smooth running of the unit. The participant will be trained and supported in: • Supporting the Instructors in facilitating the delivery of daily person centered programmes. • Promoting independent living skills and participation in activities of daily living. • The participant will be trained to enable the people we support to enhance their feelings of self-worth and individuality, helping those that require assistance in such tasks as dressing, washing, etc. • The participant will also be trained to facilitate people, we support to engage in meaningful activities and work experience, with an emphasis on community integration. • Work positively and constructively with people we support who present with behaviours that challenge. • Use of person first language in verbal and written communication. • The participant will be trained to maintain records and reports required by the Service manager for the efficient running of the service.. This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
