QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; (1) leading a large complex organization consisting of no less than 50 personnel; (2) managing multiple geographically dispersed fire stations; (3) extensive experience in directing and managing Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting; (4) managing and maintaining Table of Distribution and Allowance (TDA) and budget for both personnel and equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience and/or education required to qualify for the GS-14 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certifications: Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter. *You MUST submit a copy of the above certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board). Major DutiesServe as Fire Chief, performing complete administrative and technical direction of the fire prevention and protection program.Plan and direct fire prevention and protection program.Develop plans, procedures, and standards for firefighting and fire prevention and protection program.Perform personnel management duties.Plan and direct, through subordinates, training programs designed for the particular needs of the installation and observe training sessions and drills to ensure adequacy.
