Job SummaryThis is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Independently troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on all industrial mobile equipment.
QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens This position will be filled at the WG-08 or WG-10 level. If selected at the WG-08 level, noncompetitive promotion to the full performance level is authorized. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a TERM appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-8: Ability to do the work of a(n) Industrial Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Industrial Equipment Repair duties. I can make repairs on a variety of equipment and systems; Use a variety of power and hand tools in the performance of maintenance duties; and Perform work in accordance with blueprints and specification to complete assignments. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) WG-10: Ability to do the work of a(n) Industrial Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Industrial Equipment Mechanic duties. I can assist in trouble shooting, repairing and testing cranes and hoists; disassemble and repair gear box components; operate forklifts capable of lifting 10,000 pounds or more as required; load and unload materials. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Frequently handles objects weighing 50 lbs. or more and occasionally carrying items exceeding 50 lbs. with assistance over considerable distances. Work requires pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, lying on back working above and climbing for sustained periods. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside buildings in prevailing weather conditions. Frequently exposed to moving objects, sharp edges, noise, and vibration. Occasionally works from ladders and staging, with risk of serious injury from slips or falls.
Major DutiesTroubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on all industrial mobile equipment.Dismantles, repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, and installs mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components.Performs routine scheduled Preventive Maintenance on all industrial mobile equipment.Observes equipment operation and performs OEM recommended checks to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and in a state of readiness.Operates all industrial mobile equipment to observe performance, troubleshoot issues, and verify proper operation following repairs or PM’s.Transports equipment from the shop back to its operational area upon completion of maintenance.
