Job SummaryJoin the Indian Health Services as a Billing Technician with the Red Lake Service Unit in Red Lake, MN. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS -06 Specialized Experience Statement: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Preparing or processing medical billing claims; reviewing medical records and documentation for billing accuracy; verifying patient demographic, insurance, or eligibility information; maintaining billing records and accounts receivable documentation; researching billing discrepancies, denials, or appeals; utilizing automated billing or electronic health record systems; communicating with patients, providers, and insurance carriers or healthcare staff regarding billing matters. GS -07 Specialized Experience Statement: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Independently preparing and reviewing medical claims submitted to third-party payers; reviewing medical records and documentation to ensure billing accuracy and compliance; verifying patient eligibility, insurance coverage, and required documentation; monitoring accounts receivable and resolving claim or payment discrepancies; maintaining billing records using automated systems; coordinate with providers, insurance carriers, and internal staff to resolve billing issues' preparing reports and maintaining documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures. Major DutiesReviews medical records, patient documentation, insurance information, and demographic data to prepare and process third-party billing claims. Submits, corrects, and follows up on third-party medical claims to ensure accurate and timely processing. Verify patient eligibility, insurance coverage, authorizations, and required documentation while maintaining accurate billing records and reports using automated systems. Communicates with patients, providers, insurance carriers, and internal departments to resolve billing issues and payment discrepancies.
