About this role
Are you an ambitious and experienced researcher with expertise in artificial intelligence and an interest in cardiovascular medicine? Excited to develop novel multimodal AI approaches combining medical imaging, clinical data, and genomics for improved prediction of sudden cardiac death? Apply now! In this postdoctoral project, you will develop innovative multimodal AI frameworks to integrate diverse cardiovascular data sources. Your research will focus on combining imaging data (e.g., cardiac MRI, echocardiography), signals (e.g. electrocardiography, intracardiac signals), clinical measurements, molecular and genomic profiles to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient stratification in cardiovascular diseases. You will work on synthetic data generation techniques to improve multi-centre training while maintaining privacy, and develop methods to optimize cross-modal representations for enhanced predictive modeling. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will: Design and implement novel multimodal AI architectures for cardiovascular applications; Develop synthetic data generation methods to augment sparse modalities; Create frameworks for joint optimization of cross-modal representations; Validate models using clinical datasets in collaboration with cardiologists; Mentor PhD and MSc _tudents and present findings at international conferences; Intention to apply for grants to expand our group, and potentially start your own research group. You have a PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Biomedical Engineering, or related field; You demonstrate strong programming skills in Python and have experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch; and having experience with high performance computing infrastructures is a plus; You have experience in medical image analysis (multimodal learning experience is a plus); You have a publication track record in top AI/ML or medical informatics venues such as NeurIPS, ICLR, MICCAI, or SPIE Medical Imaging; and/or in translational venues su as Nature portfolio journals (Nature Medicine, Nature Cardiovascular Medicine, npj Digital Medicine) Experience with clinical healthcare data systems is a plus. You will be employed by Amsterdam UMC Research BV. A contract for 12 months with the option to extend by mutual agreement Classification in salary scale 10, €3.724 to €5.867 gross for full-time employment (depending on experience). In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here. Holiday hours: 194.4 per year for full time and a possibility to save additional hours. 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs. If you travel by foot, bicycle, or car, a mileage allowance of €0.21 per km applies (up to a maximum of 40 km one way by car). Do you prefer cycling? Take advantage of our good bike scheme. Pension accrual with BeFrank, a modern, comprehensible and fairly priced pension. Watch this video with more information about joining Amsterdam UMC Research BV. You will collaborate with doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, analysts, and clinical researchers conducting patient studies. We encourage active participation in the design and execution of ongoing research projects, with ample room for your own initiatives. Amsterdam UMC offers a position within an enthusiastic team where you can contribute to cutting-edge research in vascular medicine. You will work in dr Fleur T_ong’s group (T_ongLab) embedded in the Amsterdam Center for Computational Cardiology under co-supervision prof. dr. Folkert Asselbergs at Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. Our department is highly interdisciplinary with informatics researchers working closely together with practicing cardiologists to advance the use of AI for personalised treatment. The ultimate goal is to be able to accurately predict and simulate the effect of the best possible treatment for a patient. We foster an open culture with generally accessible collaboration. Moreover, we strive for equal opport
