QualificationsMilitary Grades: E-5 through E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: 3E9X1 **Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, secretarial, or clerical work that provided you the ability to perform the following: Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work; and Communicate effectively orally and in writing. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1 year experience equivalent at the next lower grade level (GS 09). Experience applying principles, concepts, and methods of emergency management operations sufficient to design projects having applicable precedents where well-established occupational methods, techniques, processes and precedents can be utilized. Utilizes knowledge of and skill in applying a comprehensive range of principles, concepts and practices relating to emergency management operations in carrying out the full scope of emergency management operations for the Air National Guard and supported units. Knowledge of a variety of emergencies, hazards, or natural and man-made/technological (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, high-yield explosives) incidents. Knowledge of emergency management and related directives, policies, regulations, procedures, and methods; and the collaboration and fostering of relationships between Federal, State, local governments and non-governmental organizations or the private sector, and their response mechanisms and authorities.
Major DutiesAn EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, GS-0089-11, you will develop, review, coordinate and execute the wing's Emergency Management (EM) program plan in support of DOD, Joint Service, Air Force, MAJCOM, ANG, Numbered Air Force, federal, state, and county plans in the area(s) of Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery. The position develops, manages and executes the wing EM programs, ensuring effective prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery operations to allow continued mission capability at the wing level. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period.
