We are offering a unique opportunity to join the P&C Re EMEA Risk Management team, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of Swiss Re Europe and Head of P&C EMEA Risk Management in Luxembourg and work closely with the CRO of SRE UK Branch. In this role, you will contribute to the risk oversight of EMEA P&C Market Units, working on a broad range of underwriting and business risks. As Risk Manager EMEA, you will gain broad exposure to Swiss Re's global risk landscape, with a focus on P&C Re underwriting across EMEA. You'll ensure that risks arising from strategic, operational, and market developments are proactively identified and addressed. Your P&C reinsurance expertise, strong communication skills, and adaptive mindset will allow you to influence key decisions and drive meaningful change. Key responsibilities Strategic & Portfolio Oversight • Evaluate the P&C Re EMEA underwriting strategy at portfolio level and contribute to the global risk view on business strategy. • Review the execution of strategic plans across EMEA, considering regulatory, geopolitical, and market trends. Transaction & Risk Reviews • Assess large and complex P&C transactions in EMEA from both quantitative and qualitative risk angles, influencing decisions at business unit and legal entity levels. • Lead or contribute to insurance risk reviews for specific EMEA markets or cross-cutting topics in collaboration with other risk teams. • Contribute to the review of material L&H transactions underwritten by Swiss Re Europe and its branches. Operational risk focus • Support identification and mitigation of operational risks related to underwriting activities. Risk communication • Drive impactful internal and external risk communication at Swiss Re Europe and P&C Re Risk Management level. • Bring forward new risk insights based on market developments and ongoing interactions with internal partners. Collaboration is a key to our success. • You will work in close co-operation with colleagues across Risk Management to ensure consistency, efficiency and to leverage the full available expertise. • You will closely interact with underwriters, client underwriters and develop and maintain trusted relationships with Key Risk Takers in the P&C Re EMEA (e.g. Market Heads). • You will contribute to and drive risk management activities, strategic initiatives and projects globally. About You We are looking for a motivated professional with a strong risk or underwriting background and the following qualities: • Technical background: Experience in underwriting or pricing within P&C (re)insurance. • Analytical skills: Ability to simplify complex issues and identify prioritise material risks. • Challenge mindset: Comfortable giving constructive feedback and acting as a respected challenger. • Emotional intelligence: Strong interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to navigate across styles and geographies. • Execution & resilience: Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities under pressure. • Team orientation: Energized by teamwork, with a focus on outcomes and creating value. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail For Luxembourg, the base salary range for this position is between 71,000 EUR and EUR 119,000 for a full-time role. The specific salary offered considers: • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience. In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. • In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
