About this role
What if the algorithms you build don’t just run in simulation, but actually see, understand, and navigate the real world? At M-ECS, you’ll turn perception algorithms into robust, real-time systems that help make off-highway vehicles and other robotic platforms autonomous. You’ll work at the intersection of computer vision, robotics and embedded systems, helping machines understand their surroundings and operate autonomously in demanding industrial and heavy-field environments. You’ll be part of the team shaping the next generation of autonomous machines, turning bold ideas into technology that works in the field. You’ll see your work move from algorithm → machine → real-world impact. YOUR ROLE, YOUR IMPACT. As a hands-on Computer Vision & Perception Engineer, you’ll help build the perception capabilities that enable autonomous machines to operate safely and reliably in demanding real-world environments, from off-highway vehicles to other robotic platforms. Key responsibilities: Developing perception capabilities for object detection, classification, multi-object tracking, depth estimation, and 3D reconstructions. Processing and fusing sensor data from cameras, LiDAR, radar and GNSS/IMU systems to create reliable, real-time machine awareness. Contributing to SLAM and localization systems that help machines understand where they are and where they’re going. Optimizing algorithms for real-time execution on embedded and GPU platforms. Bringing algorithms to life by integrating perception into machine control and navigation systems. Testing and validating your work on real machines together with System Engineers. Debugging and optimizing perception systems during field testing. ARE YOU THE ONE? We’re looking for an all-round engineer who enjoys solving complex problems that don’t always come with a manual. You’re hands-on, curious and eager to turn ideas into working systems. You’re not afraid to figure things out along the way and shift gears when needed. You thrive in a fast-paced, ambitious tech scale-up, enjoy working as part of a team and take ownership of delivering high-quality results. A master’s degree in Automation, Robotics, AI, Computer Vision, or a related field. 2–5 years of relevant experience , ideally in industrial automation, robotics or mobile machinery or equivalent hands-on experience. Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++ . Hands-on experience with computer vision and deep learning for perception , including OpenCV, YOLO, or similar frameworks. Solid understanding of sensor fusion , 3D geometry , and coordinate transformations . Knowledge of robotics and autonomous systems . The ability to debug real-world systems, not just offline datasets. Experience with ROS/ROS2, LiDAR, SLAM, edge platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, embedded optimization, or dataset pipelines is a plus. Strong communication skills in English and Dutch .
