About this role
The Associate Scientist will support the Discovery Services in contract research services to advance new pharmaceutical candidate testing. This position is primarily responsible for routine laboratory assays, mammalian tissue culture, and site equipment support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform work in a laboratory setting, meeting the physical job requirements of a lab roleConduct production assays employing molecular biology and other relevant methodsMaintain mammalian, bacterial, insect cell culture in a BSL2 laboratory, and adhere to cleanroom guidelines and aseptic technique, according to protocolsGenerate data by performing lab assays in Biotherapeutic Services and other Panlabs units if requiredContribute to scientific community, and site research and development objectivesSupport internal and external communication regarding handling and shipping of samples for BiotherapeuticsReceive deliveries for Biotherapeutics, sort and distribute supplies, as required. Complete associated receiving documentationApply and demonstrate proficiency in electronic notebook and/or record-keepingPerform data calculations and analysis using various electronic platforms, e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism, etc. and provides QC review of data and project reportsSupport the site's equipment management programComplete required training and support 100% of Employee Health and Safety requirementsDemonstrate proficiency with, care and maintenance of department equipment and assetsConduct responsible use of confidential IT and business systems, as requiredAdhere to department SOP's and documentation requirements, maintain accurate data management and reporting. Create departmental DQs and SOP's as neededParticipate in departmental audits to comply with quality standardsPerform work in a laboratory with physical job requirements of the rolePrepare and manage inventory of buffers, reagents, media, semi-finished and finished goodsSupport unit goals and demonstrate Eurofins’ competencies, as defined in the job planProvide training to colleagues and external end users, when requiredWork effectively in a team environment, under minimum direction, to achieve business key performance metrics of quality and delivery on timeAdjust work hours and provide cross-functional support to other departments, as required, and maintain accountability in delivering to client needs/timelinesRoutinely communicate project updates to internal and external clientsPerform other duties, as assigned Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ):
B.A. or B.S. with at least 2 years of relevant experienceM.A. or M.S. with at least 1 year of relevant experienceOr an equivalent of education and experienceGood organization and documentation skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and strong quality control acumenCapacity to work independently, with minimal oversight upon completion of training programAdditional Preferences:
Experience with aseptic technique, cell culture (mammalian is a must; insect and bacterial a plus), cell-based assaysExperience with molecular biology, DNA/RNA extraction a plusExperience in a contract research laboratory or clinical settingExperience with pipetting controls and standardsExperience with good documentation practicesExperience with in vitro laboratory assaysAbility / Skills (BMQ):
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents, such as standard operating procedures and technical reportsAbility to perform mathematical calculations, statistical analyses, and data interpretationAbility to multitask with organization and manage time effectivelyAbility to solve practical problems and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work in a laboratory setting, according to the physical requirements of a laboratory roleLab equipment and office computer/software proficiencyDemonstrates a positive attitude, capacity for team environment, dedication for quality, and exhibits a genuine interest in drug discovery in support of advancing human healthOther Factors:
Must complete site quality and lab safety training program within 30 days of hire.
The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., with overtime as needed.
