Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Mechanics and repairers, general. Automobile/automotive mechanics technology/technician. Small engine mechanics and repair technology/technician. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Willing to relocate. Tasks: Diagnose and isolate faults on engines and motors. Document inspections and tests made on engines and motors. Estimate repair costs. Review work orders . Adjust, repair or replace parts using hand tools and equipment. Test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance. Perform scheduled maintenance service on equipment. Advise customers on work performed and condition of equipment. Repair and maintain equipment. Supervision: Small engine and equipment mechanics. Mechanical repairers (motor vehicle manufacturing). Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Small Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification. Equipment and machinery experience: Garden tractors. Gasoline-powered equipment. Lawn mowers. Equipment: Small tractors (lawn/snow removal attachments). Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Ability to distinguish between colours. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Personal suitability: Client focus. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Organized. Reliability. Team player.
