Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry. Work setting: Private practice. Tasks: Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders. Prescribe medication and treatment . Refer patients for surgery. Treat diseases and physiological disorders . Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases. Act as consultants to other physicians. Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC). Specialty residency training. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Specialization in clinical medicine: Cardiology.
