Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted. Repair cracks and holes. Advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings. Erect scaffolding and swing stages and attach rigging. Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Working at heights training. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Airless spray equipment. Brush painting. Conventional spray painting. Multi-ratio pump spraying. Roller painting. Manufacturing sector experience: Paints and protective coatings. Surface preparation experience: Drywall taping/patching. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Ability to distinguish between colours. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
