SCOPE:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing human resource support for the Madawaska Mill

RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Actively supports and promotes safe work practices throughout the mill by being present at safety activities and personally encouraging safe behaviors.

• Administers and explains benefits to employees, serves as liaison between employees and benefit carriers and update employee information as needed.

• Supports the complete employee lifecycle, including onboarding, I9 verification, benefits, payroll, employee changes, leaves, retirement and termination process.

• Administer and support biweekly payroll processing including the UKG payroll system.

• Assist union representatives when requested for specific information such as earnings, dues and addresses.

• Maintains and updates human resource database and manual filing system.

• Coordinate new hiring onboarding, including employment documentation, payroll setup, benefit enrollment, and employee records.

• Coordinates and administers annual benefits open enrollment.

• Administers retirement benefits, including benefit payments, COBRA deductions, and applicable medical premium arrears.

• Coordinate and support 401(K) audits, employee data audits, and other audits as required.

• Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all Human Resources information.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and corporate laws and policies related to Human Resources.

• Track and monitor TN visa status and expiration dates. Prepare work permit applications and related documents.

• Assist and complete year-end HR and payroll processing including preparation and review of year-end payroll information, employee records, reports, and required documents.

• Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to 401(k), welfare plans, EEO, affirmative action, unions, labor relations and human resources.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Business Degree and/or equivalent experience

• Administration background of benefit programs & ERISA compliance preferred

• UKG platform experience

• Computer skills to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint
