Director of Med/Surg
Forrest City Medical Center is your community medical provider, serving Eastern Arkansas and its residents with physical therapy, radiology imaging, women's center and senior care. Forrest City Medical Center is a118 bed Acute Care facility located 40 minutes west of Memphis, TN and less than 90 miles for Little Rock, AR.
Job Summary:
• Responsible for the leadership, coordination, and overall management of the Medical and Surgical Units.
• This role ensures the delivery of safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care while promoting quality outcomes, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
• Provides oversight of clinical operations, staffing, performance improvement, and adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and executive leadership to support organizational goals and ensure continuity of patient care.
Responsibilities:
• Managing departmental operations, budgeting, workforce planning, and implementing evidence-based nursing practices.
• Oversees the recruitment, development, and supervision of nursing and support staff and leads initiatives to improve patient outcomes, staff engagement, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
• Monitors quality indicators, participates in performance improvement activities, and ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• BSN required.
• MSN or master's degree in a related field preferred.
• 7–10 years of acute care experience required, with critical care experience preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of management or supervisory experience.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certification upon hire.
• Must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills and the ability to manage staff, resources, and patient care operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
