Campus Security Guard (Part-Time)

Compensation: $15.29 – $18.35 per hour
Position Summary
Join our dynamic campus safety team! Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Campus Security Guard to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at our East Valley campus in Mesa, AZ.
This part-time evening role works 4 nights per week (22 hours per week) conducting regular patrols, monitoring access points, responding calmly to security incidents, and serving as a professional point of contact for the campus community. Key Responsibilities
Patrol & Access Control:
• Campus Patrols: Conduct routine foot patrols of campus grounds, academic buildings, common areas, and parking facilities during evening hours to deter unauthorized activity and ensure safety.
• Access Monitoring: Monitor building entrances, exits, and access points; secure facilities at the end of evening sessions and address potential safety hazards or suspicious behavior promptly.
Incident Response & Reporting:
• Emergency Response: Respond professionally and effectively to campus security incidents, medical emergencies, or safety disruptions, coordinating with campus administration and local emergency responders as needed.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs and prepare thorough incident reports detailing safety-related occurrences according to institutional protocols.
Community Engagement & Compliance:
• Customer Service & Communication: Serve as an approachable, helpful presence for evening students, faculty, and visitors while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Policy Enforcement: Enforce campus rules, parking policies, and safety protocols in alignment with supervisor directives and Pima Medical Institute guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Previous security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience preferred.
• Communication & Demeanor: Strong verbal and written communication skills; exceptional interpersonal abilities and a calm, decisive demeanor during high-stress or emergency situations.
• Background Check: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check as required by institutional policy.
• Physical Demands: Physical capacity to perform extended standing, walking, and outdoor/indoor patrols across campus grounds in varying weather conditions.
Compensation & Part-Time Benefits
• Hiring Range: $15.29 to $18.35 per hour.
