Support staff, including our monitors and aides, play a pivotal role in the success of our students. Ascension school provides a rigorous Catholic education in an atmosphere of Love, Kindness, Respect and Inclusion. A successful candidate for this position will be able to model these values as they ensure student safety during lunch/recess (11 a.m to 1 p.m.) and help our preschool students during learning activities and dismissal routines (1p.m. to 3p.m.). The role is 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be available, if desired, as a monitor in the Extended Day Program (3p.m.-5 p.m.)
Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Experience from volunteering or working with and monitoring school-aged children in an organized work setting (ages 3-14)
• Respectful and kind disposition
• Must complete Virtus training and maintain with online training (typically 1 a month)
• Ability to pass first aid, CPR, asthma, and concussion certifications
• Ability to pass background checks and drug tests
• Working knowledge of childhood development
• Physical fitness such as ability to sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting children
• Creativity and a willingness to sing, dance, and be silly and fun-loving with children
General Responsibilities: Lunch/Recess Monitor
● Maintain a positive atmosphere in the lunchroom through respectful interactions with students ● Maintain and safe and inclusive environment during recess ● Assist in resolving student disagreements ● Redirect students who are not following rules; praise students who are ● Report any concerns to homeroom teacher and/or member of the administrative team ● Ensure a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment ● Follow directions of administration and/or teachers sharing lunch/recess duty
Preschool Aide ● Follow directions of preschool teacher ● Monitor and interact with students to keep students engaged in creative, artistic, and physical activities ● Help to maintain a safe, production and positive learning environment

This position has an annualized hourly range of $15.00 - $16.50. An employee's pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
