Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.
Responsibilities:
• Assists in development of long- and short-range goals and objectives, collaborating with supervisory staff, Pathologists, and Hospital Administration. Oversees follow through on plan to meet the established goals. • Participates in budget preparation; monitors the laboratory revenue plan, expenditures, and revenues; purchases equipment and supplies; ensures inventory control. • Oversees development and implementation of various quality control programs within laboratory, working in compliance with regulations and oversight of Director of Laboratory and/or Medical Director. Participates in and supports Quality Improvement efforts within the department and hospital. • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through continuing education. Presents latest information and demonstrates knowledge by making suggestions for laboratory operations. • Review quality control, proficiency results, patient results, and method comparisons; identify and correct performance problems in these areas. • Assess laboratory's readiness for inspection for all applicable regulatory agencies. • Assist with the competency program to ensure that lab policies and accrediting agency requirements are followed. • Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system by: • Promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking. • Engaging, directing, and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system requirements. • Promoting improvement.
• Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
• Five years of job-related experience Education:
• Certification by recognized national certifying agency or 30 years of laboratory experience in lieu of certification. • Minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or in appropriate biological, chemical, or physical science from an accredited school or • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology with 30 years of laboratory experience
