Custodian Leahy Shelter and Resource Center Upper Valley Haven | White River Junction, VT $22/hour | Full-Time | Benefits Eligible
Upper Valley Haven is seeking a reliable and community-minded Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Leahy Shelter and Resource Center. This position plays an essential role in supporting individuals and families experiencing housing instability by ensuring shelter and resource center spaces reflect the Haven's commitment to dignity, safety, and hospitality.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Some holidays and non-traditional hours may be required.
Responsibilities:
• Clean and sanitize shelter, office, restroom, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and maintain floors and surfaces
• Remove trash and recycling from indoor and outdoor areas
• Restock supplies and monitor inventory
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow removal
• Identify and report facility maintenance needs
• Support the Maintenance Coordinator and facility operations
• Help create a welcoming and respectful environment for guests, clients, staff, and volunteers
Qualifications:
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Comfortable interacting respectfully with diverse populations
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries
• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors year-round
• Prior custodial, housekeeping, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred
