Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Purpose As the Manufacturing Operations Manager – Injection Molding, you will lead a multidisciplinary organization spanning molding engineering, tooling, maintenance, production, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing data. You will be accountable for building a safe, efficient, quality-focused operation that delivers customer commitments while advancing operational excellence, new-product launches, and long-term capability growth. This hands-on leadership role also guides strategic decisions related to internal manufacturing capabilities and external supplier partnerships. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop managers, supervisors, and technical teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and equipment-performance targets. Drive operational excellence through standardized work, 5S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean manufacturing, and continuous-improvement practices. Optimize production capacity, labor, materials, inventory, equipment, tooling, and operating expenses to meet production plans and financial objectives. Partner with engineering, technology, product, and external suppliers to deliver successful product launches, resolve manufacturing issues, and determine optimal make-versus-buy strategies. Experiences/Education - Required Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Operations, or a related Engineering discipline. 10+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment, including injection molding, tooling, equipment maintenance, product development, or product introduction. 5+ years of people-management experience, including at least 3 years leading molding operations, tooling operations, or a comparable technical manufacturing function. Demonstrated expertise in injection molding process development, mold/tooling management, injection molding machine maintenance, and manufacturing process controls. Proven ability to lead safety, quality, delivery, labor efficiency, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and cost-improvement initiatives in a high-volume production environment. Strong Lean manufacturing and problem-solving capability, including experience with continuous improvement, statistical process control, process capability, experimental design, and Six Sigma methods. Experience managing budgets, capital investments, supplier performance, and cross-functional projects; proficiency with ERP/MES systems (SAP and MATTEC preferred) and strong English communication skills.
