Sub-Acute Admissions Coordinator / Patient Access Specialist Position Summary The Sub-Acute Admissions Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate patient registration, insurance verification, authorization management, and financial clearance for patients requiring sub-acute care services. This position works closely with physicians, case managers, healthcare facilities, and internal departments to facilitate timely admissions, secure appropriate authorizations, and support optimal reimbursement. The ideal candidate possesses strong healthcare administrative experience, excellent customer service skills, and a thorough understanding of insurance processes and medical terminology. Key Responsibilities
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage information. • Identify services requiring prior authorization and obtain necessary approvals for treatment and admission. • Process patient admissions, including bed authorizations and financial clearance activities. • Utilize Epic EMR to perform patient intake, registration, demographic updates, and account maintenance. • Review and verify patient demographic, insurance, and medical information to ensure accurate reimbursement. • Handle claims-related activities, request authorizations, and attach referrals as required. • Determine appropriate insurance plans and coverage options, including: • HMO • PPO • Medicare • Medicaid
• Educate patients regarding copays, deductibles, shared costs, and financial responsibilities. • Receive and respond to inquiries from case managers, physician offices, healthcare facilities, and internal stakeholders. • Coordinate with multiple departments and support various remote hospital or ministry locations as needed. • Apply medical terminology knowledge to accurately interpret clinical information and documentation. • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, providers, and internal team members both in person and over the phone. • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, payer requirements, and patient privacy standards. Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience in a hospital setting. • Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, referrals, and patient registration. • Strong knowledge of commercial and government insurance plans. • Understanding of medical terminology and healthcare workflows. • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience using Epic EMR/EHR. • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Sub-Acute Care experience. • Bilingual in Spanish. • Experience working with admissions, patient access, financial counseling, or revenue cycle operations. Required Skills

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
