Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a mid-level Mechanical Design Technician to support new product development and manufacturing activities for a local smart building technology company. In this hands-on role, you will help build, test, and refine mechanical components and assemblies during active manufacturing and product launch phases. You will use your mechanical mindset and CAD expertise, ideally in Creo, to contribute to both design and testing efforts in a fast-paced engineering environment that is heavily involved in manufacturing tooling and production support. Responsibilities • Support product testing activities by setting up and breaking down mechanical test fixtures. • Execute mechanical and functional tests according to established engineering plans and procedures. • Assist with prototyping efforts and iterative design validation for new and existing products. • Document test results clearly and report findings to engineering teams for further analysis and improvement. • Create and modify detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for mechanical components and assemblies, including sheet metal and plastic parts. • Support component and assembly design with a strong focus on design for assembly and manufacturability. • Assist in the design of manufacturing tooling for major projects and ongoing initiatives. • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and development engineers on new product development and launch activities. • Provide hands-on support on the manufacturing floor while products are actively being built. • Assist engineering teams during tooling build, validation, and refinement phases. • Support semi-autonomous engineering groups responsible for standard and custom tooling. • Contribute to new product development and product launch projects within a primarily mechanical engineeringfocused team. • Participate in heavy manufacturing tooling and production support efforts for a major ongoing initiative. Essential Skills • Experience using CAD software for mechanical design, with strong preference for Creo. • Proficiency in 3D modeling and the creation of detailed engineering drawings. • Experience working with manufacturing and tooling in a production environment. • Working knowledge of mechanical component and assembly design principles. • Familiarity with machining, tooling, and design for assembly practices. • Ability to support hands-on mechanical testing, prototyping, and assembly activities. • Comfort working in a fast-paced engineering environment with active manufacturing and product launches. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Creo as a primary CAD platform is strongly preferred. • Background in SolidWorks or other CAD platforms, with transferable 3D design skills. • Exposure to AutoCAD for design and drafting is a plus, but not required. • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is nice to have, but not required. • Experience creating detailed drawings for mechanical components and assemblies. • Experience providing mechanical assembly and testing support. • Experience in tooling design for manufacturing processes. • Associates degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not required. • Interest in a long-term role that combines design work with hands-on engineering and manufacturing support. Work EnvironmentThis position is based fully onsite at a campus-style facility with a primarily mechanical engineeringfocused team and regular interaction with development and electrical engineering groups. You will work in a fast-paced environment engaged in new product development, product launch projects, and heavy involvement in manufacturing tooling and production support. The role is hands-on, with frequent time spent around active manufacturing lines, tooling builds, and testing setups. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Coopersburg, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
