Are you organised, calm under pressure and confident working with groups of young people? We are looking for an Exam Invigilator to join Lift Maltings and help ensure examinations run smoothly.
About the role
As an Exam Invigilator, you will work under the direction of the Exams Officer to help create a calm, secure and well organised examination environment. You will prepare rooms, check candidate identity and attendance, distribute exam papers and materials, explain procedures clearly and record exam start and finish times.
During examinations, You will supervise candidates, maintain appropriate exam conditions, respond to queries without compromising exam integrity and record and report any incidents. You will also collect scripts and materials at the end of each exam and help restore the venue where required.
Key responsibilities
Prepare examination rooms in line with seating plans and exam requirementsCheck candidate identity and attendance and distribute the correct papers and materialsGive clear instructions to candidates and ensure examination regulations are followedSupervise candidates throughout examinations, maintaining a calm and secure environmentRespond appropriately to queries, disruptions and emergencies and report incidentsCollect examination papers and materials securely and support the clearing of examination venuesWhat we're looking for
Experience of managing large groups of peopleGood literacy and communication skills, with the ability to give clear and unambiguous instructionsThe ability to follow schedules and deadlines, solve problems and use initiative within established proceduresA calm, patient and resilient approach, including when dealing with unexpected situationsStrong teamwork skills, professionalism and the ability to build positive relationshipsA student-focused approach and commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusionGCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent, experience of working with children or in an education setting, and knowledge of exam procedures and protocols are desirableAbout Lift Maltings
Lift Maltings is an 11-16 school based in Witham, Essex.
