Compliance Specialist - St Louis
Job Description: Compliance Coordinator- St. Louis, MO ARTCO (American River Transportation Company) Travel Requirement: Up to 50% Position Summary Join ADM’s marine compliance team at ARTCO as a Compliance Specialist, supporting safe, compliant operations across our inland river fleet. This role will initially focus primarily on conducting internal audits, documenting findings, and supporting timely corrective-action follow-through. As knowledge and experience grows, the position will expand into internal vessel surveys and Drydock/Internal Structural Examination (DD/ISE) activities. The Compliance Specialist will also provide administrative and program support to the Compliance team, helping strengthen documentation, tracking, and capacity for future growth. Key Responsibilities Internal Audits & Compliance Reviews • Conduct routine internal audits across ARTCO vessels and operations using established procedures, checklists, regulatory requirements, and company standards. • Document findings, identify gaps, and coordinate with vessel and operations leadership to support corrective actions and timely closeout. Survey & DD/ISE Development • Develop capability to assist with and, as qualified, conduct internal vessel surveys under the direction of Compliance leadership. • Support DD/ISE activities, including preparation, inspections, documentation, and follow-up as assigned. Reporting & Documentation • Prepare clear, timely, and accurate reports for audits, inspections, surveys, and DD/ISE activities. • Maintain organized compliance records, findings trackers, schedules, and supporting documentation. • Monitor open action items and follow through with internal partners to support timely closure. Administrative & Program Support • Support Compliance administrative functions, including scheduling, document control, data tracking, reporting, and meeting/action-item follow-up. • Assist with continuous improvement of ARTCO’s audit, survey, and compliance processes while creating additional capacity for future program growth. Safety & Compliance • Consistently follow and reinforce safety protocols in accordance with The ADM Way. Maintain working knowledge of regulatory changes and internal requirements impacting ARTCO operations. Job Requirements Education & Experience • High School Diploma or equivalent • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: • Inland marine/towing vessel operations, maintenance, engineering, or vessel support • Safety, regulatory compliance, auditing, inspection, or quality-related work • Administrative or program support in a maritime, transportation, or industrial environment
Technical Competencies • Working understanding of marine operations, vessel systems, and compliance or inspection processes • Ability to read and interpret procedures, regulations, vessel documentation, audit checklists, and inspection reports • Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, Subchapter M, TPO/TSMS requirements, ABS Rules, or similar standards preferred • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn compliance, audit, and survey software or systems Communication & Soft Skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams • Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to strong follow-through and professionalism Physical Requirements • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying conditions such as hot, cold, dusty, etc. • Standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time • Kneeling and climbing stairs/ladders • Ability to crawl tanks, as needed for audits, inspections, surveys, and DD/ISE activities • Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined spaces Additional Requirements • Must hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) • Willing and able to travel up to 50% • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check

: Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
