Job summary
We are looking for an additional paramedic to complement our existing dedicated multi-disciplinary team delivering excellent care to our community.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder is a Paramedic who acts within their professional boundaries.
The paramedic will work within their scope of practice using their enhanced clinical assessment and treatment skills to assess and manage patients presenting with acute presentations which include minor illness or injury, abdominal pains, chest pains and headaches.
The post-holder will be an integral part of the general practice team.
Supervision and mentorship will be provided to support the Paramedic.

Estuary Group Practice is a large primary care surgery with approximately 20,500 patients within Gowerton, Gorseinon and Penclawdd and surrounding localities. We operate from our 3 sites at Gowerton, Penclawdd and Penybryn Gorseinon. We have 13 GP partners, two salaried GPs, a practice pharmacist, paramedic, 2 practice nurses and two HCAs. We are supported by an excellent administrative team. We are also a training practice, hosting GP registrars and medical students. Our large and experienced team are able to provide high quality, safe and accessible patient care. Job description Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Paramedic delivering health services
a.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) within the practice
b.Assess and triage patients, including same day triage.
c.Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to the social prescribing service and, where appropriate, other community or voluntary services
d.Perform specialist health checks and reviews within their scope of practice and in line with local and national guidance.
e. Perform investigatory procedures as required and undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs and other samples within their scope of practice and within line of local and national guidance
f.Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans and lead certain services (e.g., monitoring blood pressure and diabetes risk of elderly patients)
g.Provide an alternative model to urgent and same day GP home visit for the practice.
h.Maintain accurate and contemporaneous health records appropriate to the consultation,
i.Communicate effectively with patients and, when appropriate, family members and their carers, where applicable, complex and sensitive information regarding their physical health needs, results, findings and treatment choices
j.Receive referrals and directed patients from triage services and other clinicians
k.Actively signpost patients to the correct healthcare professional
l. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on safeguarding adults and safeguarding children
m.Support in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements on behalf of the organisation
n.Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
o.Contribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance
p.Contribute to public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics) through advice or direct care
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively with people by telephone, email and face to face Understanding of safeguarding adults and children Commitment to reducing health inequalities and proactively working to reach people from all communities Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to another healthcare professional Ability to record accurate clinical notes Clean driving licence Effective time management (planning and organising) Ability to listen, empathise with people and provide person centred support in a non-judgemental way Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities Ability to maintain effective working relationships and to promote collaborative practice with all colleagues Commitment to ongoing professional development Good interpersonal and organisational skills Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations
Qualifications Essential
Educated to degree level in paramedicine or equivalent experience Registered with the HCPC as a Paramedic Completed their two-year Consolidation of Learning period when a newly qualified paramedic.
