Job summary
This is an exciting, fixed term contract opportunity within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT) Children's Physiotherapy Service, which provides a comprehensive service to children's musculoskeletal outpatient and acute services. The Band 5 post holder will work in the acute physiotherapy team that provides a 7-day 24-hour inpatient service to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Major Trauma, Accident and Emergency, tertiary services for infectious diseases and haematology, and general paediatric wards. The post holder will also manage children and young people with musculoskeletal conditions within an outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
To plan and deliver a patient centred therapy service to patients in hospital and in the community. To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care. To routinely provide advice, education and support to patients and their carers as part of the therapy process. To adopt a patient centred treatment approach in order to support meaningful participation in life roles. To demonstrate effective communication skills when attending and contributing to ward rounds, meetings and case conferences relating to caseload. To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with the legal requirements, trust guidelines and professional standard of practice. To collect, collate and reports statistical information in line with departmental and trust policy. To develop clinical and teaching skills via continuous personal and professional development (CPPD), including maintenance of an up to date CPPD portfolio. To participate in the Band 5 peer support group. Build and sustain professional relationships both as an independent practitioner and collaboratively as a member of the team. To share responsibility for ordering, issuing, retrieving and maintaining departmental equipment.

Education/ Qualifications Essential
Professional degree qualification in relevant profession Physiotherapy HCPC registration
Desirable
Membership of Professional Body Membership of a specialist section. Degree classification upper second class honours or above (or equivalent)
Experience Essential
Experience in managing physical disability Wide range of experience in training /clinical placements Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of therapy intervention. Liaison with professional colleagues, carers and relatives in the hospital and community. Experience in a clinical setting of application of professional standards and codes of conduct. Experience of using evidence based practice.
Desirable
Recent junior experience in a structured rotational scheme. Knowledge of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.

Able to use in depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to inform clinical decision making. Ability to manage a clinical caseload and cope with pressures and prioritisation of caseload. Ability to positively manage exposure to patients and environments, which may be highly distressing, antagonistic, open to aggression and unpleasant. Understand and implement appropriate standards, including risk management, in all work undertaken. Maintain accurate statistics. Ability to undertake physical activity involved with therapeutic handling of patients.
