About this role
THE ROLE The ServiceNow Platform Owner & Lead Developer provides senior technical leadership for the University’s ServiceNow platform, acting as the senior hands-on ServiceNow practitioner and design authority. The role is responsible for ensuring that ServiceNow operates as a secure, scalable, and user-centered Enterprise Service Management (ESM) platform that underpins critical digital services and operational processes across the University.
The postholder leads the end-to-end technical design, development, configuration and continuous improvement of the ServiceNow platform. This includes translating organisational needs into robust technical solutions, owning the platform architecture and data models, and ensuring that developments meet functional, non-functional, security and usability requirements. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong service awareness, ensuring the platform enables effective, efficient and intuitive services for staff and students.
Acting as the senior technical lead for ServiceNow, the role contributes to the platform roadmap and delivers agreed technical priorities, balancing agreed service priorities, user needs, technical debt, and platform sustainability. The postholder is responsible for delegated prioritisation decisions, technical standards, and architectural integrity, ensuring that enhancements and integrations align with enterprise architecture and ServiceNow best practice.
The role also provides senior technical leadership across the University, serving as a point of escalation for complex ServiceNow matters. Through mentoring, task supervision, and stakeholder collaboration, the postholder fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and high technical standards, maximizing the value of the ServiceNow platform as a core institutional system.
