Head of People Partnering and Transformation - Band 8c

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to join our People Services Team as Head of People Partnering and Transformation. This is a key strategic leadership role, providing expert people leadership and support across both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust

You will lead the People Partnering function, providing leadership, direction, and development to the HR and OD Business Partner team. Working closely with senior leaders, you will drive organisational transformation, helping to shape the future of our workforce and services. Working across our two sites, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Trust Leadership Teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, proactive people partnering services that enable organisational objectives to be achieved.

You will be an experienced people professional with a strong track record of leading teams, influencing at a senior level and delivering large-scale change and transformation initiatives. You will be comfortable working across multiple sites and building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

This role involves regular travel and a visible presence across both the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, reflecting our commitment to collaborative working across our partner organisations.

The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. Job description Job responsibilities

To provide professional HR advice, support, and guidance to TLT, acting as a trusted advisor and champion of best practice (personal involvement will generally be on complex matters where interpretation of employment policies is not straightforward, or the issue has a high profile or risk). To be the key lead to ensure the HR and OD Business Partners are delivering workforce plans for the Divisional Leadership team in conjunction with finance and operational colleagues. To be the key lead to ensure the HR and OD Business Partners are supporting the delivery of agreed CIP plans. To provide strategic HR support to plan the delivery of HR and change management programmes to meet services needs, building consistency of advice and excellent application of judgement, ensuring that professional, procedural, and legal requirements are met, and stakeholders requirements are fulfilled. To collaborate with senior managers and HR colleagues to develop and implement workforce strategies and implement different methods that build capacity and capability, to support attraction and retaining the right staff to fulfil the diverse job roles across the organisations. In conjunction with the Head of EDI and their Team, champion equality, inclusion, and accessibility at work through the ongoing development and implementation of the workforce equality plan and in accordance with relevant legislation, ensuring an integrated approach to staff management and service delivery. Working closely with the Head of Organisational Development and their Team, to ensure an ongoing programme of work to support cultural change, delivery of the NHS people promise commitments and local priorities. To provide inspirational and professional leadership to staff, acting as a role model, strengthening skills and competence, and fostering a strong culture of standards, performance, and accountability.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Educated to a masters degree or equivalent post-graduate qualification. Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, or equivalent. Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.

Experience Essential

Significant experience of providing operational and strategic HR advice to senior leadership teams including organisational change, TUPE, complex employee relation cases. Evidence of effective working at a senior level in a large, complex, and high performing environment. Evidence of providing business-led advice that supports all aspects of employee relations. Experience of developing constructive working relationships with trade union representatives through negotiation and consultation. Experience of designing strategies to ensure HR provides clear business-focused outcomes aligned over the long term to delivery of the councils workforce plan. Experience of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries. Strong leadership and management skills, including people and performance management. Knowledge of employment procedures and legislation Knowledge of NHS national terms and conditions Confident with working with people at all levels, internal or external to the organisation. Demonstrable ability to inspire confidence and trust in others, able to draw solutions from others.
