Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our schools team. The post holder will have a degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) and will be HCPC registered. They will have significant post-registration experience and will work as an autonomous practitioner. The post holder's primary role will be to take responsibility for providing a specialist speech and language therapy service to children with speech,languageand communication difficulties in mainstream schools, including developmental speech and language disorders. In addition, they maybe required to deliver speech and language therapy assessment and management to children with a broad range of paediatric conditions within other areas of the Children's SLT service either as part of their normal timetable or on a rotational basis as required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, intervention,managementand discharge to children with speech, language and communication difficulties which may be associated with a range of developmental speech and/or language disorders, in the primary and secondary school age range. This service will be delivered in community settings and educational provisions. It mayutilisea range of delivery modalities including face-face and virtual.
The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams within the settings described above, managing the clinical caseload within their areas of responsibility.
The post holder will take part in service development projects, waiting list initiatives and audits. They will support the development of Band 5 speech and language therapists (SLTs) and provide supervision for Health Care Support Workers. They willprovide clinical placements for undergraduate SLT students andparticipatein teaching/training of other professions.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
