Job summary
Working in partnership with the Head of School (HoS), the Training Programme Director (TPD) will provide senior educational leadership and strategic oversight of the delivery, development and quality of the Enhance programme across the East of England. They will lead an agreed portfolio of work and ensure the programme responds to national priorities, regional needs and emerging developments in medical education and training.
Enhance is a multiprofessional contextual leadership programme that supports healthcare professionals to develop broad generalist capabilities alongside specialist expertise, including person-centred care, complex multimorbidity, systems working, population health, health equity and environmental sustainability. In the East of England, it has been delivered through the Explore and Enable pathways, combining self-directed learning with regional development days, learning hubs, workplace activity, immersive resources and opportunities to learn beyond traditional care settings.
Main duties of the job
The TPD(s) will oversee delivery in support of Future Doctor (2020), the NHS Long Term Plan, Fit for the Future: the 10-Year Health Plan for England, and reforms arising from the Medical Education and Training Review. They will translate national policy into high-quality, flexible and learner-centred education that develops generalist capabilities, supports service transformation and responds to changing population and workforce needs.
Accountable through the HoS, the TPD will lead programme quality, faculty engagement, learner and supervisor experience, evaluation and continuous improvement. They will develop partnerships across specialties, providers and professions, creating shared learning opportunities for doctors, pharmacists, allied health professionals, nurses, dental professionals and the wider health and care workforce.

Education and Training Quality Improvement and Performance
To lead continuous improvement of high-quality learning environments for Enhance learners. To ensure compliance with NHS England statutory,regulatory and quality requirements, escalating risks to the HoS. Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality Improvement
To lead quality improvement processes supporting patient safety across the healthcare workforce. To champion clinical skills training and simulation, emphasising teamwork and human factors. Programme Management
To lead delivery, development and quality assurance of Enhance in the East of England, working with the HoS on: Programme delivery and learner or supervisor concerns; Opportunities and barriers to expansion into general practice, medicine and psychiatry; Recruitment to training posts and programmes; Programme management, including assessment, progression, rotations, support, remediation, out-of-programme activity, careers, less than full-time training, transfers and academic training. To contribute to school leadership and lead relevant programme meetings and governance. To represent Enhance, and where agreed the HoS, at local, regional and national meetings. To lead and advise the HoS on educational and workforce development, including: Professional development of the educational faculty To assure effective supervision and learner support, addressing concerns and escalating risks. To identify learning and faculty needs and ensure appropriate appraisal, development and resources. To lead shared learning opportunities that strengthen multiprofessional working across the school and region.. Intelligence Support/ provision
To oversee the use of local intelligence, evaluation and feedback to inform quality management, programme development and improvement. To ensure effective use of relevant information systems and accurate programme, learner and post data. Strategic Workforce Development and Commissioning
To lead clinical and educational input into local and national workforce planning relevant to Enhance. To commission and develop educational provision that supports generalist capabilities, curriculum outcomes and identified workforce needs. To identify and lead implementation of innovative education and workforce solutions across the programme. To advise the HoS and lead agreed commissioning and decommissioning activity for the programme. Finance
To lead agreed business planning and budget management for Enhance, ensuring effective use of resources and value for money. To ensure compliance with NHS England financial governance and procurement requirements. Qualifications Essential
Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development Primary clinical healthcare qualification

Experience Essential
