We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Carpenters / Civil Construction Workers to join our Dunedin-based Construction team. Working across a variety of bridge, concrete, asphalt, and civil construction projects, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure that supports local communities. This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in a range of activities including bridge construction and maintenance, formwork installation, concrete placement, structural repairs, carpentry work, and hand laying asphalt as part of pavement construction and maintenance projects. You'll work alongside a skilled and supportive team committed to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes across a diverse project portfolio. Key duties include:
• Bridge construction, maintenance, and repair works • Formwork installation and structural carpentry • Concrete placing, finishing, and repairs • Steel fixing and reinforcement installation • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications • Hand laying, raking, spreading, and compacting asphalt • Supporting pavement construction and maintenance activities • Operating tools, plant, and construction equipment safely and effectively • General civil construction and labouring duties • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance Whether you're an experienced carpenter looking to expand into civil construction, or you already have experience working on bridges, concrete structures, and asphalt projects, this is an opportunity to join a respected team delivering meaningful projects throughout Otago. Ngā pūkenga matua | Important Skills To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
• Proven carpentry, construction, civil infrastructure, or asphalt experience • Experience with formwork, concrete construction, structural works, or hand lay asphalt activities • Practical problem-solving skills and a strong eye for quality workmanship • Ability to read and interpret plans and project specifications • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards • A positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team • Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions • Full Class 1 Driver Licence Highly Desirable
• Bridge construction or bridge maintenance experience • Experience working with reinforced concrete structures • Concrete placing, formwork, and steel fixing experience • Experience in asphalt paving, hand laying asphalt, or pavement maintenance works • Working at Heights certification • MEWP/EWP experience • Class 2 Licence and WTR endorsements • Experience operating construction plant and equipment Don't tick every box?
